FABULOUS FISHING REPORT
May 29, 2011
This is our second year to stay at Lucy’s RV Park (My wife, Mary and I were Ben and Evelyn’s first customers after they purchased the park last year) and once again the fishing on Lake Watahoya has been outstanding. This small lake is located in town within walking distance of Lucy’s and is easily fished from shore, wading, or float tube.
During the past 4 weeks, I have fished 4 or 5 times per week and have caught and released (except a couple of fish to eat on 2 occasions) 2 to ten rainbow trout per trip. Size has ranged from 10 to 17 inches (lots of 12 to 14 inch fish) and my most productive fishing method has been casting a small #12 or #14 fly and clear bubble with spin cast gear. I have also caught some fish casting Panther Martin spinners and a small Cast Master spoon.
I might also mention that there is also another city lake (Lake Daigre located across the road from Lake Wahatoya) plus 5 other lakes within a short drive from La Veta.
So pack your fishing gear and head to Lucy’s RV Park in beautiful La Veta Colorado. You’ll be glad you did!
